Clean it or refinish it. These are two different things. Cleaning is just as easy as mopping. Swifters work OK, but I prefer a big wet towel. I fold the towel into a long rectangle and just crawl up and down the floor.

Refinishing is a whole oher matter

I use Murphys Oil soap to clean up spills and such( hands& knees with a old baby diaper) then after it dries I get out the mop and "Future" floor cleaner...it fills in the scratches left by the dogs nails, and hardens to a nice shine.
I would suggest doing the floor at night after everyone else is in bed for the night, that way the Future can "harden" and you dont see puppy feet in the finish until you scrub again. LOL smells good too!
We have 5 kids and 2 LG dogs, I've been using this for 10 years and the floors still look great!

Lots and lots of energy with the dog hair, right? They make some nice wood floor cleaners. Be cautious, don't use anything that is cheap. Check with a co. that carries hardwood floors. These wood floors are wonderful but with pets look out for accidents. This may be a problem if your floor doesn't have a sealer on it.

I have original hardwood floors in my 1920's home and I love it. When we purchased the home a year ago, we had them refinished and they look brand new! So, if you do hardwood, you can always refinish it in the future. I know that laminate is less expensive but I'm not sure that it has the best wear and tear to it. It will most likely not be as hard of a product as wood is.

A friend's husband works in flooring at Lowe's and he says never ever mop your hardwoods with water or even Murphy's soap. He recommends using a swiffer or vac or broom to get the dirt/hair up then using a spray on hardwood cleaner with a terry cloth mop to spot clean where it's dirty.

Our lab has scratched our beautiful hardwoods terribly! It just breaks my heart!

ditto on never using water. Go to your local hardward store and I stress LOCAL as they are usually most helpful in directing you to a safe effective product.

We recently had refinished the hdwood floors in two rooms and bought a special cleaning kit with mop and cleaner. Its worth the investment to keep them looking nice. Beautiful wooden floors are the cats meow! Good luck.

you can't have both [dogs and clean floors] but what ever you do, do NOT use water on any wooden floors, The water will cause the grain of the wood to rise and check. and then warp, and to refinish hard wood flooring is around $2.50 a square foot.

top job has a hardwood floor claner, but the best way with puppies is to polyuathane your floor so that it is washable.

The best product I have ever used is 'Bruce's' hardwood floor
cleaner and polisher.

I buy it at the local hardware, or large grocery store.

good luck
