the next president to land in office, cleaned up the economy, made a dent in illegal immigration, made public schools worth a crap, handled the iraq issue swiftly and safely, but then it was found out he was a atheist, and or a nonbeliever,or agnostic, how would that make you feel?in other words, religion should play no part in elections, that is honestly what i think helped bush get voted in again, aside from the fact that a war president has the greatest chance of being elected again during a war...?real question here

why should it make a difference. seperation of church and state prohibits religion from politics. he would be considered a man with no moral values, and a horrible person. which is a shame, because the moral values of religion, are not being gay, voting for bush, and praying. if he is the best candidate, he should win th e job, religion should play no part in politics. and when it does, you get a president like GW, who F%$^s up the enitire world, not just the US. so i believe we should use bush as an example, to keep their ugly noses out of politics, and other peoples lives. religion over extends itself constantly, and i am sick and tired of it.

As an non-US citizen/resident, I can only say that you should only be so lucky as to get a president that could clean up the economy, handle immigration, improve public schools and handle the Iraq issue.
Why would you care what her/his religious belief is? Or his/her sexual practices/preferences for that matter? Do you elect a president or a god-king?

First of all, George Bush never got elected into office. He cheated his way there. Secondly, religion should never play a role in politics and yet we see every president has had a religious background as part of his political platform. I believe there is an amendment against electing a president a third time, the public does not support him enough to vote for him, yet from what he did in the first election in Florida it makes you wonder if we won't be seeing him elected again.

I dont care what religion the president is, except in the case of GW Bush who tries to push his religion into the lives of every American. It wouldn't matter to me if the president was agnostic, athiest, or a believer, as long as they don't bring it to work. However an athiest or agnostic president would probably be way to radical for most Americans.

Personally I don't care if the president that could lead the nation out of this mess was an amoral womanizing, bisexual, as long as he was able to do a good job!

I just have a problem with people trying to enforce their beliefs on me. Convince me is OK, force me and I will fight!

I'd say that was an improvement wouldn't you? Bush is only religous for the benefit of the voting public....... I bet his sorry 4$$ is still in bed on a Sunday morning when the bells are ringing.

I don't care what a leader's religious beliefs are as long as they don't try to restrict my beliefs. If they did all you said they did I'd be all for them. Plus can't you judge a tree by it's fruit?
