day and age that we should be telling people what they should expect? I am talking like kids mostly with Santa, Tooth fairy, Scary Bed time Characters, things like this? Should we be ruining the fun for others or let them find out for themselves?

My oldest son is five yrs. He believes in Santa and the Easter Bunny, ect. When he sees something on TV that scares him or he hears about something that scares him, then we explain to him that they are just like books. They are from our imagination. Someone must have a big imagination to have been able to think that up. He really understands that, and is less prone to get scared. I think that some things should be left to experience and others should be told. It should depend on the child and the situation.

I think you kind of answered your question in that last line - should you ruin fun for others? No. Why take away a child's childhood? That's part of it - fun.

You don't need to scare them at bedtime, but non-threatening things like the toothfairy or Santa or the Easter bunny are fine.

No way! Why ruin the fun!

I let my daughter who is now 10 find out herself. She said to me about two years ago, she knows I am the Easter Bunny because everything comes form Target!

It is part of being a kid!

Good question. I think it would be better for individuals to find out on their own. At least for a little while, they will have some fun, before someone comes along and ruins it.

I figured it out on my own and I wasn't crushed... I was getting stuff and I didn't really care where it came from when I was a kid. Kids blab at school and on the bus anyway.
