it's the process of writing a hand written letter and trying to get it right that sorts out peoples thoughts for the receiver as well as the sender. So if people wrote many more letters and sorted things out to themselves and who they send to more it would clear peoples thinking process and lower the level of misunderstanding and confusion a bit and that will make the world better. Also the contact, exchange of ideas and sentiments is good for people.

I don't believe that the world would be a better place BUT I do know that when I read or write a hand written letter it makes me feel good. Even through an email. If people take the time to send a *personal letter* as an email it feels GREAT instead of forwarded jokes or chains or if you love God you will send this to 50,000 people. We just need to stop and take time. Our lives are not THAT busy.

I still remember the days when you would write a letter before you picked up the phone. You had to put more thought into what you said, and you rarely every said anything that you eventually wanted to take back. I don't know if any major events in the world have been caused by a phone call or email, instead of a letter. But the ideas of thinking before you speak, taking pride in what you said, respect for the written word, has all but disappeared.

Firstly, was the world better beofre the sms's, emails, phone, internet...etc?

Secondly, would you have got a faster answer to your question had you sent handwritten letters to each one of us?

Thirdly, stop pressing the refresh button!

But on a serious note, though I dont agree that the world would have been a better place with handwritten notes, but yes, there would have been more sinceriety and a less casual attitude while writing letters...

...and yes, I can still smell the love in the handwritten notes scribbled lovingly and patiently by my loved ones...it definately feels WOW!

You handwrite to me and I answer your letter back in the same mode, and even though you and I are completely unknown to each other it feels good to know that someone outhere, somewhere is paying attention and seems to care. So far sounds ok only if I ignore the fact that more handwritten leters among us, translates into more cutting of trees. So the world as on people will be better, but the world as an ecosystem will not.

Without a doubt.

First of all, it's a lot more fun to get a hand-written letter. It usually has been given greater effort by the writer than your typical email.

It also gives more of a connection - it's not 1's and 0's in cyberspace, it's paper that was, at some point, sitting in front of the writer. Actual pen to paper.

It's a great form of communication that, I suspect, is beoming lost.

yes, a handwritten letter is better than email. Time to thing a bit first. Then it takes awhile for a response. Meeting with people in person is still better. Especially if the people visiting drink responsibly.

Yes - for who doesn't like receiving an actual letter in the mail?

I really do. I think letter writing is one of the most effective ways to communicate. My father and I often write letters to one another when we can't quite see eye to eye. It allows us botht the opportunity to say what we need to say and not be interrrupted, and then if we don;t agree, it gives us cooling off time and time to gather our thoughts to respond.

no, I don't think the world would be a better place. What's gonna make it a better place is when people start acknowledging God!!
