The power is usually down for only a few minutes, but lots of valuable work can be lost. Offline work is OK as auto save is used. Is some sort of inverter possible?
Cheers

you can get a UPS, an uninterurptible power supply, it is a battery back up system that cuts in within 1 1000th of a second and the computer doesn't even know there has been a cut. Many places like hospitals use them for sensitive life support systems as well as computers.

You should think about protecting your computer - when the mains goes down & comes back on we get a power surge - this can do a lot of damage to your computer (it cost me 2 before i learn).

Fit a surge swich also called a surge protector. ASAP.

I would add to the above advice by suggesting that you maintain a regular saving habit and back up your information on multiple external backing stores; that way, you won't lose anywhere near as much as you might do otherwise.
