2gb is a perfect size for a MS DOS machine. Type "win" at the command prompt. You might get lucky and Windows 3.1 will load. lol

BTW that laptop may only have 486 cpu in it. If you paid more than $50, I'd say you got ripped off.

Question 1:
what is the capacity of a 2gb harddrive?
Answer 1: 2 GB hardrive is equivalent to 2048 MB (about 2000 floppys), so that's quite small capacity for a harddrive nowadays.
Windows XP requires over 3 GB's of space. So running XP is out of the questions.

Question 2:
did i get ripped off for the computer i bought?
Answer 2: Depends how much you paid for it. If you paid more than $ 50 bucks for it, then YES, you got ripped off.

What are the specs on the laptop? What is the operating system?

Keep it for another 30 years and you'll have an antique, then sell it back on ebay.

I hope for you that your OS is mistakenly reporting a 2GB hard drive. If your hard drive is actually 2GB then your computer is either about 15 years old, or the seller switched the drive before selling the computer to you. What did the ebay listing say the hard drive was?
If the computer differs in any significant way from the listing you have recourse against the seller. As it stands if you paid more than 50-100 you got ripped off.

You must have a laptop from 1998 or earlier if it has 2GB harddrive so you officially got ripped off. That would be worth nothing right now and it will be hard to update because you would need to use the old Harddrives and the most you can improve to is 4-6GB I think.

If the eBay seller stated that the computer had a 2 Gig harddrive, you got exactly what your bid on and you were not ripped off. Bidders should always do a little research on local prices before bidding on anything on eBay.

I think you got ripped off. 2GB is barely anything at all for a hard drive. I have a 2GB flash drive so I think they sold you a really old laptop.

You didn't get ripped off if the ad clearly stated that it was a 2GB hard drive. You simply made a stupid mistake.

A 2Gig harddrive would be on a computer that is... oh 8 years old. I sure hope you got a great deal on it, because I think your best solution would be to get a 'real' harddrive and put it in. 2Gig will barely hold the operating system.
