I suspect I may have been pregnant and miscarried just a couple of days before my period would be due. Is it possible to miscarry this soon, and if I did, do I need to see a doctor?

You can miscarry at any time. Early in the pregnancy is most common. If you really suspect you might have had one you do need to contact your doctor and have an exam done. If your body didn't completely flush out it could cause a serious infection. good luck!!

Yes you can miscarry at any time during your PG, especially if this is your first PG, the likelihood of miscarrying is increased.

Yes you should see your Dr. because if there is any retained products of conception remaining within your uterus, this could turn septic (infection) or possibly grow into tissue similar to the type of tissue that makes up the placenta, (trophoblastic).

If this happens you will grow placenta tissue that will consume your uterine canal. (very bad)

To be cautious you should at least go to your Dr. and have he/she check your blood work (HSG) to see if it is leveling out or rising from where you should be in your PG. This simple information will give the Dr. an insight if there is concern or not.

If there is concern, a simple same day surgery procedure called a D&C will make things right again. This is where the surgeon scrapes out your lining of your uterus, just as if you were having your period again. Sounds painful, but it is not.

Good luck!

Yes and no.

You most likely miscarried if your period was heavy and clotty (sorry to be graphic). This happens a lot and is natural. You didn't actually miscarry, but had a spontaneous abortion (an early, early term miscarriage).

You don't need to see a doctor. If it was a natural abortion this early, then there is no reason to. If you develop other symptoms (fever, rash, abnormal discharge), then you go. My bf's mother went through this a few times and knows her stuff. She says that you don't need to go because there was no fetus which was miscarried, just an embryo. Trust me, there is no reason to go.

BTW-- you can safely conceive next month.

Yes, 50% of pregnancies spontaneously abort at that time due to chromosome abnomalities (problems with the fetus) or other biological reasons. It is very common and when it happened to me my doctor told me most women never even know the've concieved because they just assume they are having a heavier period than normal or more cramps than normal. But if you are trying, the good new is that you will be more fertile in the next 2 months. I got pregnant successfully 2 months later as did my sister & friend after they miscarried. So good luck in whatever you are hoping for!!

It is not called miscarriage at this stage. The zygote (fertilized egg) has just failed to implant into the uterine lining. This happens because there is something inherently wrong with the proto-life form, and it would not be viable anyway. And this happens a lot more than people would actually think. Be thankful that it DIDN'T implant, and then die in utero, or been born drastically malformed.

This is only nature's way of weeding out it's mistakes.

It is possible to miscarry that early. A lot of people miscarry so early that they never even realized that they was pregnant. II would contact you Dr if you truely belive that you were in fact pregnant.

I would see a doctor to see if you have miscarried and if you have to make sure you've passed everything and don't get an infection. I hope all is well. Good luck.

yes, it is nescesary to see a doctor even after a natural misscarriage. He will examine the uterus to see if everything cleaned out naturaly or there is apotential risk for future pregnancies.

you could misscarry at any point. You should see a doctor right a way because they will need to see if you were pregnant and if your cervix is returning back to normal size.
