My husband and I were having sexual intercourse and noticed that I had a brown discharge. Can someone please tell me if this is normal.

Some women have a tendency to spot during pregnancy, but it should never go unreported to your Dr. since bleeding can indicate other things.

Because your genitals are engorged during pregnancy due to the horomones coursing through your body, everything grows more sensitive. With that, I would recommend calling the nurses at your Dr.'s office. Tell them about the discharge and the nature of its appearance. More than likely, they will tell you to just keep your eye out for other symptoms, but it should always be reported, and they can also give you guidance for how to proceed in the future, including guidance on how to approach intercourse, since it seems to be that which affected the discharge.

Someone else mentioned this, but how far along you are has a lot to do with it, more concern would be placed on it in your 2nd and 3rd trimester. In addition, the qty of discharge also plays a role. If you're spotting, it is generally less concerning than a heavier discharge.

Bottom line, call your Dr. just to get their take on things. Every clinic has a different viewpoint on it, but their perspective plays a key role in understanding what's going on.

Good luck!

yes, normal. For some women, intercourse causes spotting. Brown discharge is just old blood.

You never mentioned how far along you are. Just talk to your doctor and take it easy.
