Who hates gross generalizations?
Just like people, artistic expression comes in many different forms. There are good and bad people in every society, just like there are good and bad songs in every genre.
The problems with modern music of all varieties, is the priority that the music business places on the 'business' as opposed to the 'music'. Inane, unoriginal, poorly produced songs exist in all genres of music from pop, country, rap, hip-hop, rock, and even classical.
The solution is to support artists that create with conscience and integrity by buying their albums so that they can continue to make good music. Clearly this isn't happening seeing the proliferation of crap (of all genres) that makes it to the airwaves these days.

Rap & Hip Hop... I can live with it (Always have loved the Wu Tang). Rap has been taking influences from Rock music for ages, and you can see when Rap musicians take influences from rock ("Bring the Noise"~Public Enemy & Anthrax, "Walk This Way"~Run DMC & Aerosmith, "I'll be Missing You"~Puff Daddy). It makes for a newer, fresher sound. That I like.
R&B... Now this stuff plain sucks. Nobody has done anything new with it since... BoysIIMen back in 1990? Unfortunately I've heard "End of the Road" 650 times. Today all "R&B" means is two things "Romantic and Boring". Give me back the old days! You know, when people said R&B and it meant "Rythm and Blues". Bring back the days of Muddy Waters, George Thurogood, Eric Clapton, Magic Sam, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and BB King! Those guys represented the R&B that inspired people from Elvis Presley , to the Beatles, to Led Zepplin, and numerous other musicians even today.

Most of true R & B is really great. Just those parts that have been perverted in order to try and get educated people to accept rap and hip hop. Both these are just a form of keeping black people down by justifying laziness, crassness, thuguness, and as an excuse to not study and learn. Stupid, low class people just never get ahead no matter what race or ethnic group. Rap and hip hop promote violence and hate and degrade women. You can't possibly get any lower than that.

Dude...rap/hip-hop/ and R&B along with Rock, alternative and other forms of modern music strike a balance in this nation that otherwise would be quit boring and one-sided,, not to mention oppressive- if government wasn't constantly being questioned and critiqued by the various forms of modern music. Think about it.

well i did like rap back in the day about 5-6yrs ago. but now rap music is all trash. these new rappers cant sing so they just put some s-h-i-t together with some sexy girls in the videos and some swore words to attract the youngsters. i think the older generations were better rappers iand i think that they could actually put some rhymes together.
I think the r n b music is good. there are still some r n b artists who cant sing, but there are others who can. r n b music is cool and sounds good. i particulary like Ne Yo, R kelly and kc and jojo.

I absolutely HATE rap/hip-hop/ and r&b. First of all how can you understand what the rappers are saying(get when I say saying, they aren't really singing!!) it all sounds like mumbling except for all the cursing and crude remarks about one another. Hip-hop uhh.... I just hate it!!! r&b singers sound like they are whining!! get over yourself, you're rich and famous!!! All country and alternitive for me!!

It's not "white people" who hate R&B...it's people (especially women) who are tired of the hip hop culture using their race as an excuse for violence and their negative attitudes towards women

Yes, yes and NO!!! But even some hip hop is ok if you're dancing, just not the foul mouthed stuff.
I don't see how hip hop and r&b are even related, unless you're trying to be racist....?!!
