Cosmic Encounter is the most fun of any boardgame. It's the game that inspired Magic the Gathering (which being a card game, falls into a different category) It's a game that never plays the same way twice, involves all the players, and really has some interesting situations. If you've never played it, you're missing out.

It's been out of print for awhile- I think Mayfair games makes the most recent release. I prefer the original version from Eon Games.

My favourite game is Arimaa. It can be played using a standard chess set but it has completely different rules and is more fun than chess - you have fewer draws and the games don't last so long. I like to play the game online against other players. There is also a prize of $10,000 for anyone who can write a computer program that will beat the best Arimaa player as the game was designed specifically to be hard for computers to play after Deep Blue beat Kasparov!

For all of us that actually love board games,thats actually quite a difficult Q,!They,ve all got their +/- points,whether down to strategy or plain old brain power(not 2 good at that one).
I suppose mine must be Scrabble,played it from an early age,got a lot of funny memories(great fun catching ur parents looking in the bag when ur 8yrs old,ha-ha).
