Someone has to say let's just agree to disagree. If it's just a small thing than swallow your pride and say I'm sorry. Good friends shouldn't let petty things get in the way.

Chances are the other person is wondering the same thing. One of the hardest things to do is to be the one to offer the olive branch. I hurt and offended a co-worker not too long ago and it was so uncomfortable. I felt I was in the right, but I told her eventually (after stewing for a few days) that I was sorry, that I could have used more tact and that I had not considered her feelings when I spoke to her. She cried, which made me cry and we have been fast friends since (with minor tiffs). Be brave, peace will prevail.

I learned a long time ago, that every person God ever made is a screw up in their own special way. And, there are only two kinds of people in the world. Those that will admit they screwed up, and those who won't.
Those who do, usually get over the incident and go on to live happy and productive lives. Those who won't admit they are a screw up spend their lives trying to prove themselves right, much to the annoyance and frustration of those around them.
Tell your friends this story....It will help.

Divert their attention away from whatever it is that is coming between them. Whatever it is is probably petty and will dissolve away with time. Do not allow them to focus on the dispute, for this can only build up into an eruption that can destroy a friendship. Do not try to be referee---it is not your problem and you might get told so real quick like. and as always, us any opportunity to pray for them.

Usually when two people in my group of friends aren't speaking to each other, we kinda "set them up" and put them in a situation where they have to communicate. That is only to start the ball rolling.
We also talk to them. If it does not work, well then I guess it's up to the individuals but at least we can satisfy our minds by knowing we tried to make peace.
I always like to remind them of this phase: "life is short!"
