I guess I mean... if our government was not doing what is constitutional responcable for (e.g. protecting our boarders) or whatever and we all exempt from fed. withholdings and could in reallity file 0 taxable income on our tax returns. its only breaking a law not to file.

Believe it or not, Americans have the right under the Constitution to outlaw the income tax. We have let government do what they want because we are too wraped up in our X Boxs and Playstations to realize that what they are doing is hurting our country and our next generation. Republicans and Democrats alike.

Most Americans pay most of their tax via withholding, so a boycott by them would be fruitless. Others could do it, and the IRS would be hopelessly bogged down.

But it's wildly improbable. The coercive power of the Government is behind the tax and it's unwise to confront them head on. As it is, it seems that most self-employed people and most investors cheat to the extent that their earnings aren't reported on 1099s.

And the IRS hasn't the personnel to do anything about it; Congress doesn't care. I see that they are bringing in (expensive) private collection agencies to try to collect money that taxpayers admit they owe but just don't pay.

The people in their wisdom have seen fit to allow Big Government to establish the largest prison system in the world here in the "land of the "free" ", and they have been conned into doing this in order to be "safe". So have no doubt that prison system can and would be used to house millions upon millions of people who tried to boycott the federal income tax. Note also that the presumption of innocence is gone and all the rules of evidence have been weighted in favor of the prosecution to "get tough on crime". So go ahead and try it if you like. I'll look you up on visiting days.

If my boss would stop taking them out of my pay check I would stop paying them so would a hell of a lot of other people. If the money that is collected from taxes were actually used right and not wasted like it is now no one would complain about paying them but when they do stupid crap like pay $00 for a toilet seat or $40 for a$.04 washer The bureaucrats that let it happen should pay for it themselves Not the folks who actually have to do some real work for a living.

It is a good question, I would guess it would be complete anarchy. Good luck getting everyone to follow your lead, though...

America is very lucky: I have lived in Europe for a few years now, and income tax averages about 45% for most countries here. The highest is Belgium, where tax averages 60% of your gross income... 60%!!!!! can you imagine?

The cash cow would go away and the Government can not run the country. End patronage appointments and keep the Mike Browns of the world away from work that needs people who know what they are doing.

It would cause a lot of problems at first - but who here is with me (I know SVern is) that we should switch to having JUST sales tax? Then everything would even out perfectly according to how much money you make - the best way to have a flat tax.

Well, I guess we'd have to quit working to boycott federal income tax since it's taken from our paychecks.

It's criminal behavior. And that can't be tolerated.

If people don't support the country enough to give our government 25%-40% of your income, then they don't deserve to be here and should be deported.

No excuse for illegals. Zero tolerance.
