My birthday is in a couple of days and I feel so blessed and happy to be turning 34. My co-worker's birthday was yesterday and she said that she didn't want to get older...I told her that the alternative to not getting older is death. She turned 54. Birthdays for me are a time to reflect on my life and give thanks for the blessings that have been bestowed upon me thus far. My daughter's father was killed at age 28. My best friend died of cancer at 33. Life is precious and should be appreciated. What do you think about birthdays?

i agree with you! i feel we should all be thankful that we have made it this far and getting older just means we are becoming wiser... hahah... i am not afraid of aging... i'm a firm believer that we all have to face that in life, we can't control that... so why worry about it?

My birthday's are always pretty crappy. My husband never seems to be working when my birthday comes around, so we can never really go out and do anything. I'll be turning 24 in about a month and no one has even asked me what I would like to do for my birthday. I guess I feel cheated. I always make a big deal about everyone else's birthday's and no one ever returns the favor. I can't remember the last time I actually had a party or a birthday cake. When I turned 19 everyone forgot my birthday completely. I suppose I should feel blessed and grateful that I have my health, my husband and my family, but I can't help but feel that no one really cares when my birthday comes around. I guess that sounds a little selfish, but I figure.. Hey that is my one day to be a little selfish. I don't think that it's too much to ask to not have to cook on my birthday, or to have one day without drama, or an argument. It may just be me, but in my experience birthday's suck, and it's not even about dreading getting older.

Most of the years its sad, because ehwn my birthday comes around, only one, maybe two of my friends and family members are around. But guess what, yesterday was my birthday. No one was around at all, not to mention my gf dumped me, and my best friend stabbed me in the back. I haven't had a good birthday since I was 12, I'm 17 now.

I am always excited at birthdays. The more you have the more blessed you should feel. It is like a gift. You didn't have to live to be 34 or ____.
