I'm not sure when America in particular got obsessed with the "thin" look. Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield were both size 14 and they were much hotter than the celebrities that the public chooses to worship today.
Too thin is gross....look at Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie. Can someone give a valid argument that they are sexy?

Part evolution, part marketing. Skinny girls are more fashionable, according to what advertisers tell us. It's not quite that blatant, but almost. They use lots and lots of 'em in ads for a reason.
And guhs that like skim girls tend to marry slim girls. Their offspring tend to take after their parents, so we get more slim kids. If fashion changes, and guys start going after large girls, there will be more large kids.

Perception of beauty varies with the culture and time we live. Marylin Monroe was a size 12 to 14, all those women in the 40s and 50s were “bigger”. Then along came twiggy, and our perceptions changed.
Look at paintings throughout history, and you will see the difference in perception. We just happen to be alive now.

They don't. Not every one thinks slim is sexy. There clubs and societies where men look for BBW

I have to disagree with you. I'm not into slim girls, skinny girls or that model image that girls seem to like. I like my women with some meat on the bones. Thank you.

well theydonotseem sexy to every one u just think that. but let me tell u something it should not matter if a person think u sexy or not whats in the in side that counts. as long as you think u are sexy it realy do not matter.

bones are sexy. ribs are hott. everyone loves to be stabbed with a hip bone while hugging! ooohhhh yeaaaahhh.....I'm just kidding.
Healthy girls with meat, apple bottoms, and healthy breasts are in where I am. Guys laugh at skinny girls...they say they look like 12 yr olds. Men love bodies, things that excite them. Not bones. Bones subconsciously mean sickly & death.

Maybe its there preference, but a lot of that has to do with the media. The media is the one who makes that look glamorous and everyone else just hops on board. It is like the greta Plato says; The masses are asses.
