What if i were to say thats iT IS a waste of time because it has no benefits to an individual esp. students and working people because there are other better things to do. blogging is not productive so, it is a waste of time. How would u counter that?
And... one more reason, blogging is like a journal. Y would u wanna share ure personal life with people when a journal/diary, u have to be soo secretive?!

No, even if most of it is boring to the public, I'll support anything that keeps people writing at length. It's great practice, and a wonderful way to organize one's thoughts.

Some people do it for fun, some people do it because they want to. Why do you eat? Why do you sleep? You have to, but why do you want to do certain things that are unnecessary such as shopping, playing games, etc.?
There is also a feature on sites where you can make the blog PRIVATE so that it is just a diary/journal to the user only, some people want to share their blogs with others for their thoughts and replies.
By the way, tyPiNg LikE tHIs is an even bigger waste of time, so learn how to write.

No -- for 2 reasons.
1. Lots of people (in the pre-computer days) wrote diaries and no one thought it was a waste of time -- and these were often not even seen by *anyone* until long after they were dead, if at all. It was just a good way to put feelings and emotions out onto paper, to understand yourself better.
2. Lots of people think better out loud or on paper or in some other concrete way. My husband talks constantly, alone or with someone in the room, just to get the words out of his head and someplace where he can hear if they really make sense. Many other people are the same way. They don't care if you see them. They just need to see for themselves.

Maybe is a waste of time for people who don't have anything else to do, but you can say the the same to people who watch sports 24/7, or go to bars all night...and this is the only thing they do.
In my case I use my blog to tell thing to my family as we live in different countries.
