Bush is not taking anything away. No law can be passed by the President alone. It is all too common for people to blame the President for everything that is wrong when the problem is usually Congress and/or the courts.
I believe a government is too powerful when the common people lose their voice. If voting ever were restricted, or regulatory agencies created too many policies outside the boundaries of the law, we would be in serious trouble. That is when we need the Second Amendment!
Thomas Jefferson said, "What country before ever existed a century & half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is its natural manure." Manure in this case being fertilizer, of course, not bull$#!t as used in today's common parlance.

When our country was founded the government was meant to provide two services only 1) Provide relief to those in need. 2) Protect the country from other nations. I beleive the Governement tricked people into giving up there liberties with the institution of the social secturity administration rquiring ALL citizens to take a number and rely on the goverment for more than what they were supposed to do. there is info on the internet but with everyday you find less and less as these things fade when everyone is interested in only chatting and looking at porn. search diligently and you will find your answers.

I personally feel that our gov. became too big after, Harry Truman.
Bear in mind that Lincoln had suspended
"The Writ of Habeous Corpus" during the Civil War.
There were groups in Maryland attempting to organize men to fight with the South. They were imprisoned.
It was ruled by the Supreme Court to be unconstitutional, but Lincoln stated that he needed that power to protect the country.
It stood.

Our government is too powerful. The feds have usurped the rights of the states thus the far left and far right pursue their true agenda of a New World Order and one world economy.

Our founders envisioned a weak federal government when forming our union. But almost from the beginning it has become bigger and more powerful. Both political parties share equal blame in this regard.

When they force you to give up your hard earned money to help support those too lazy to work
When they take control of the school system and use it to indoctrinate the students.
When they don't let you do what you want with your own property.
When they will arrest you and take away your property at gun point unless you pay them money year after year.
When this happens then I will start to worry….
Aww crap!

When the people can no longer overthrow it. For example, if the second amendment were repealed. Thomas Jefferson said a revolution was due every twenty years. We have slipped.

In my opinion a government becomes to powerful when it makes it's citizens attend military service. If he introduced mandatory conscription then that would be too powerful.
