I can't believe that our Federal Government will allow anyone to get this pill! Especially without a prescription! I am not one of those abortion clinic picketers, but my goodness....lets condone unprotected sex, and the irresponsibility of getting pregnant. I am sorry, but when I was growing up (I am 31, so it wasn't THAT long ago) we were taught that we be responsible for our actions. That meant that we should reap what we sow! Not that there aren't some circumstances that could warrant the use of this pill (ie: rape), but not for our own childish actions. Why should a child have to pay for the stupidity of the person that fooled around and made the child? There are so many people out there who CAN'T have children...let's not kill the child...let's give that woman that LONGS for a child the chance to have one!

I guess that's America for us. Freedom to choose, right?

Everyone says "God Bless America" but how can we expect him to bless us, when we don't "bless" it ourselves!

Good for you for speaking your mind! I imagine that God is not at all happy with this latest turn of events. Whether chemically or surgically done, abortion is abortion. I heard a doctor on the Today Show this morning say that it prevents ovulation. What if the woman has already ovulated? And supposedly it "gums up the works" preventing the sperm from fertilizing an egg. And a woman has up to 72 hours to take the pills. We all know that a woman can become pregnant very shortly after intercourse.

I have 2 sons, ages 32 and 27. My husband and I taught them to be responsible, as your parents obviously taught you and my parents taught me. Freedom to choose doesn't mean freedom to act irresponsibly.

I think this just adds to the list of the backlash against America regarding God's blessings. He has richly blessed us. As a country, I think we are reaping what we have sowed for the last 40 years, or so.

God bless!

I think it's wonderful and about time that American women can have a morning after pill for a quick abortion just as European women have been able to do for over 20 years.

Just because there is now a quick fix for an indescretion, it's not without risk... Repeatedly taking Plan B can cause some real physical problems and anyone contemplating this measure had better have a long talk with her doctor before she starts using these pills.

On a bright side, This sure is going to have an effect on the people who like to picket the clinics and kill doctors who preform abortions... and THAT is a GOOD thing.

I dont think it should be used a a form of birth control...but I also think it could be a valuble option in case of something like a rape. I was raped at 16, I was a virgin and got pregnant from the rape...I chose to keep the baby....but only because I had very supportive parents who understood. I can see where some girls feel the shame of rape (due to our society) and are afraid to tell anyone what happened. This pill could save their life. I wanted to commit suicide at first..i felt alone and empty. I can see where this pill will become a major factor in some lives, and it will be up to the parent to talk to their child about the risks and reasons for use. If an adult chooses to use it, then they have to deal with that.

Good heavens you are so vicerile. I think it is a great idea because nobody should have to carry a child if it isn't wanted period. I think this country is in a sad state of affairs when we can't seem to get the message out to kids and I do mean kids that they must use some form of birth control. There is no excuse for not using some form of it. I blame parents as well for not taking their daughters in for their physicals and speaking to the physician about birth control for their daughters as soon as they get a period. I did and I can proudly say my daughter considers that as part of her regime as brushing her teeth. Fathers should take a more active part with their sons but most guys at these young ages are not as mature and forget just about everything. I feel since the girl or woman is the one that will become pregnant then she has an even deeper responsibility to try not to become pregnant. But, there are always buts, the fact remains kids still get pregnant, women get raped, women forget to take the pill, and want to terminate the pregnancy.
In your utopia you think these kids should carry to full term and leave it up for adoption. Would you be able to do that? Could you give up a child once you carried it inside your womb? I would never be able to do that and many other women can't do it either and for you to expect that of them isn't right. The pill will eliminate the problem. I don't believe these kids or other women will have more sex because of this new pill. Most kids are not well informed of their choices and will continue doing what they have been doing. It is our responibility to make our children and especially our girl children fully aware of the consequences to having sex at an early age.
These pills are being monitored by the pharmacy to see how often they are being used so kids are not going to be lined up at the pharmacy just to get the pill.
People that can't get pregnant can adopt and there are plenty of kids that need love. Most people think that they must have an infant but that is an old way of thinking. If you really love children then open your heart and bring them into your home.
You are not killing something if you take the pill the day after sex. Matter of fact you don't even know if conseption took place.
Yes, freedom to choose and aren't we lucky? If you were raped wouldn't you want to make the choice of the pill or adoption? Or would you rather be thrown into the streets with no family support like some countries and die of starvation?
It is okay for you to accept the pregnancy by taking a pill but it isn't okay to stop what may not be anything the day after sex. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Your stopping pregnancy every time you use the pill. Are you going to stop taking it? Ask yourself what would you do in different circumstances and don't be so judgemental against other peoples feelings or opinions.

Technically the Plan B Pill isn't an abortion, but they shouldn't allow just about anyone to get it. How will we learn from our mistakes. All this will do is cause kids to start having sex at a younger age and not just that, there will be more people having unprotected sex and raising the percentage of people out there with STDs. Kids are gonna think they can run around and just have sex with anyone unprotected or proteced and know that they can just go get a pill and not end up pregnant!

This pill is an excellent idea. Just because someone has sex does not mean they should be burdened with having a child. Don't give me that life begins at conception, there is nothing there but a clump of cells. As for people who want children but can't have them, maybe they should take a hint from Mother Nature and not have them. I would not want to go through a pregnancy just so some one could have a baby that they can't have on their own. I am not a baby factory for someone else.

Im in agreeance with you that we should not condone unprotected sex and what not.... But I got pregnant with my first child at 16 and I was raised in a good home where my parents tought us responsibilty and all that other good stuff.... however I wish this pill had been an option for me then because abortion was out of the question.... This is a less intrusive way for women o safely prevent an unwanted pregnancy..... Now that my daughter is 6 and I have since had two more children, I wouldnt wish for anything but them... But alot of women arent equipped to carry a baby in their belly, let alone raise one......

I think the morning after pill is a good thing.

I have to go see my doctor once a year just to get a refill on birth control pills. This will be more convient for me. I dont even have sex that much.

Also, kids under 18 CANNOT purchase the morning after pill.

Its the same thing as wearing a condom, a pill protects you from getting pregnant. (of course not from diseases)

Amen, Sister! I agree with everything you said. It simply gives people an excuse to be irresponsible without having to pay the consequences. I can't support something like that. It's a little scary being in a country that has "Soddom and Gommorah" values. What's next?

I think the FDA is insane. Don't guess you realize how dangerous this pill would be. Never mind the morality, etc. This pill can kill people too dumb to realize they are in trouble after they take it. An incomplete abortion from the pill can cause hemorrhaging and sepsis. Deadly conditions. I await the fallout if they really sell this drug over the counter.
