I have loved to write books since I was like 4-5 years old.

I would suggest writing your own stories and reading them to children. Participate in library reading, preschool reading, etc. and learn from your audience what they like and don't like. Kids can be very smart... so why not get the truth straight from the toddler's mouth?

You should also consider literary conferences where children's authors will be speaking, and talk with librarians and teachers who know what has lasted through generations.

Write about what you know. Recall good memories and happy families. Hopefully those will start a foundation for children to become productive, respectful citizens as adults.

The children's market is probably the MOST difficult of all the markets to get into. You don't mention how old you are now, but I have to be honest, you need scads of experience in the field, the right connections, and a true talent for writing for children; it is much tougher than I think you imagine. And, most manuscripts that are submitted to publishers are never even read because they got thousands and thousands a year form unknowns such as yourself. You might want to read the children's books that are out there on the market now and study them closely. Just like fashions change, so do the flavor of children's books in the way they are written. Again, this is a VERY difficult field. You should also take some courses in children's literature and think about joining the Society of Children's Writers and Authors. Good luck.

I don't know but I've written children books but none of them have been published but now I'm writing a novel and I've forgot about the children books. I also heard that it's harder to get them published, as one poster said, because so many don't live up to the great children books of the past.

Have you taken any writing courses? Have you read any books on this particular genre?

Writing a book isn't just something you "do", it takes a lot of work.
