Check out a song by the Finnish group H.I.M. Their song off of the 2003 album Razorblade Romance called "Gone With The Sin" has a really good guitar solo about half way through it. Anything else by them might be recommended.

Krytonite" by 3 doors down has a good solo that's easy.
Poison's "Talk dirty to me" has a good solo that isn't too hard and has some good basic licks that will transfer to other songs.
Also AC/DC - Angus uses a lot of basic pentatonic licks that are bluesy. His style might be a good start point too.
Once you learn some basic scale forms, figure out what key song is in and jam along to the CD - this will really help your soloing and help you develop your own style.

"Cinnamon Girl" by Neil Young - the actual solo is just one note played repeatedly (though I've never been able to figure out how to play that ending riff - sounds like the low E string is tuned down to D).
Or, for a more wise-aleck response, most of the songs off Metallica's "St. Anger" - since they didn't have any guitar solos to speak of.

Well one thing is the type of music.....do you want to play blues or rock or latin music.....etc.? For rock music I would say you could try Judith by A Perfect Circle that has a small sort of solo....also I would try Black Sabbath's Paranoid that seems to be a popular song for a rock guitarist to start. Well hopefully that will help...

the solo in 'politician ' by cream is a good starter if you want to be bluesy. if your into a bit of metal then have a crack at the first solo in master of puppets by metallica . Failing that if you are looking sort of middle of the road then I would have to say give something by the chilli peppers a blast . Good luck maestro !

If you want something that is easy but a bit of a challenge, try Crazy Little Thing Call Love by Queen. Easy, all major pentatonic scale.

Hi.
I strongly suggest the 'lead solo' from "Don't worry baby" by the Beach boys- It only consists of two notes, played twice, four times.
There you go: you're a rock 'n roll star!
Every success in your rise to fame,
Misterviv.

American Idiot - Green Day (first solo I've ever played, pretty fast, but with enough practice, you'll get it...)
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana (the solo in their is great; speed's just enough for you to hear and listen to how it goes... ...also, great song, just amazing... ...try checking it out...)
...welcome...!!
