I suggest you to get monthly rather than paying as you go (although that might be cheapter). If you get monthly, you dont really have to care about the $$ when talking to someone as long as you dont go over the limit (minutes). Paying as you go, on the other hand, makes you worry how much you spend, etc.
T-mobile should be a great plan --- very cheap, good coverage, good reception, and does not take EXTRA money like Cingular does.

It depends on how much you talk to and who you plan on talking to. Just be careful sometimes on pay-as-you-go plans they say you have unlimited night and weekend or to people w/ a certain wireless carrier... but in reality unlimited is only like 1000 minutes and they screw you over. So just make sure you know everything and ask lots of questions.
Verizon has a pay as you go where you can talk to their customers for free as well as on nights and weekends to a certain extenet (at least that's what I heard a saleswoman say to a kid at the store) I think Cingular has the same thing.
I use a monthly plan b/c I talk wayy too much and I'd suggest it... especially if you don't want to worry about having to pay for alot of minutes. Usually you get a better deal when buying minutes in a large package and you'll be less likely to get screwed over.

Depends on where you live; if you're on the East coast, you'll want Sprint Nextel. The coverage is amazing; you can go with the prepaid plan aka Boost which is the same things as Nextel (actually uses signal from their towers). If you're on the West coast, you'll want something like Cingular, Verizon. They have their hand in that area. However, by 2008, Sprint will have completely merged with Nextel and their service will be upstoppable. You can check out the rate plans on the websites. If you're outside of North America, I don't know what to tell ya...sorry!

I think it depends on your income. Can you afford to pay monthly? But most plans are about $50 a month. Which is pretty much affordable. I would suggest a plan because its easier. You don't have to keep going to the store for pre-paid cards.

pay as you go - that way you don't get too many or too few minutes and end up charged extra for extra minutes or waste your money on minutes you didn't use. If monthly is cheaper, just see how many minutes you use the first month and get that amount next month. Also, if minutes are tight, don't use your phone. Also, some companies allow free minutes between two phones with the same company.

Monthly. It is usually cheaper than pay as you go. also then you never have to worry about not having minutes to use. You may have to pay for overages, however, if it is a true emergency, it would be more than worth it!

Tracphone, which you can buy at Wal-Mart. There's no monthly fees, and you just buy phone cards for your minutes every other month, or you can buy a card which has minutes for a year. The phone itself is about $30.

Really depends on your needs.
I have the $29.95/mth plan that gives me 300 any time minutes and unlimited weekends (no nights). Includes free roaming.
That's with T-mobile
Switched away from AT&T/Cingukar, since they regularly charged for services not used (data transfer) and refused to do anything about it. Crooks.
T-mobile seem to be square shooters (thus far).

Go prepaid. You per minute charges will be a little higher, but you will never be surprised by a bill in the mail. Also, prepaid will not lock you into a shitty contract for 2 years. FYI eveytime you modify your calling plan they start your contract over.

Depends how much you talk.
If you talk 500+ minuites a month get a monthy plan.
If less than 500 then get pay as you go.
I use monthy but thats just me. ^^
Check rates on websites!
