My wife and I preferred to wait and see for our first, and with our second child we did have ultrasound (the other procedure, with a needle to extract amniotic fluid, is too risky and sometimes causes spontaneous abortion), and the second was a boy. The first was a "surprise" and was a girl. The second was a boy, you could see everything in vivid detail. But you can't always tell. Sometimes the ultrasound technician can't get a good peek. They're both fine and beautiful.

Yes. When I had mine done w/my baby, the doc showed us the kideys, heart, and even bloodvessels. But it was called a level 2 ultrasound and it was at a specialists' office (a birth defect runs in my family, so the baby had to be tested), so I think it is only available if your doctor says need it to see about defects or if you are rich enough to pay for it out of pocket. BTW: I had a girl, perfectly healthy.

If there is a penis, it means it is a boy; vagina means girl. You can't always tell sex from an ultrasound though. Sometimes the babies position won't allow for a good view of the sexual organs to be able to make the distinction.

Ha like the answer but it's not as easy as that. You should have asked the midwife. But not always you can see to tell the gender.
My sis wanted to know bit it had his/her legs in the way.

I had a mine done at, I think 23 weeks and she told me if she sees a burger its a girl and if she sees a turtle its a boy......turtle she saw ,boy it is.

my sister was told that it is a girl and it is,born today.It's only midwife some can make almost correct guess.
