I'm starting ayso (american youth soccer organization) today, and I'm really nervous. My coach called yesterday and was talking to my mom & I guess he was really worried about my experience level since I have never played before. I'm 14, but I have to play in the 16 &under group since I'm gonna play in highschool. My mom said that the coach sounded like he didn't want me to play, so now i don't know if i want to. What should I do? How can I learn the rules and practice before I go tonight?

Is there someone in the neighborhood who can help you out?

Im sure there will be other kids there that havent played before either!!! Just try and practice a little bit in your backyard maybe, and remember to ALWAYS KEEP HYDRATED. I run cross country, and that is one of the most important things, to drink so much water that you almost drown.
Good luck, and HAVE FUN.

Okay you can't learn soccer in one day but something that will impress your coach is be aggressive and don't be afraid of putting another girl on her butt and don't be afraid of the ball. And don't worry if you get a penalty against you, I guarantee he will be impressed and pleased.

eat carbs before you go that will help.

Er . . . you ain't gonna learn a sport in a day.

If you know absolutely nothing about the game, I guess Wikipedia is a good starting point, though information is not going to help you physically.

Don't worry about it. Just go and have fun. That's what being young is all about. You will naturally get better as you learn the rules.
