I have my list...

1. Doctor Who - The widest variety of in-depth character development, storylines, drama, and leaps of imagination. If you can get past the bad special effects of all but the two most recent seasons, it's right at the top.

2. Star Trek: The Next Generation

3. The Twilight Zone

4. Babylon 5

5. Battlestar Galactica (Redux)

6. Star Trek (Original Series)

7. Quantum Leap

8. Firefly (This could have been in the top 2 or 3 if it had lasted; as it stands, I include it on the list even though it feels like more of a mini-series because it was so, so enjoyable)

9. Stargate: SG-1

10. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

The Dune series. Frank Herbert's opus is for me the definitive science fiction series of all time. Its sweep...its breath...its depth. It was a series that provoked thought and feelings in me...I have followed Frank's dictate to look deeper into self...to see with better eyes...to accept that it is okay for my reach to exceed my grasp...that I can indeed be dreamer and realise those dreams no matter the obstacles that lie ahead....that politics and sociology and religion and ecology are connected and affected to and by the other...that there is great danger in separating mind, body and spirit for they are merely different sides of the same pyramid...that MuaDib's journey is every man's journey...and The Lady Jessica's ode to motherhood honours all women and those born from them...for he is the child...and she the madonna...and we are all connected with a spirtual umbilical cord to the great maker...to each other...forthe kingdom lies within...and whether you worship Shai'hulud, Mohammed, The Great Spirit or The Nazarene...it matters not if all around you there is a call to war...if you are quiet and listen you will hear the whisper of the gods...the voice from the outer world...that whispers "LOVE"...and know you stand for something larger than self...and hence cannot fall for just anything...and you are not alone...and never will be alone again...In this life right through to the next.

Dune...Arrakis...Desert planet

History is written...on the sands of Arrakis...

but the saga of Dune is far from over...

Dune.

"It's a novel written by Frank Herbert and published in 1965. A winner of the Hugo Award and Nebula Award for outstanding science fiction, Dune is popularly considered one of the greatest science fiction novels of all time, and is frequently cited as the best-selling science fiction novel in history. Dune spawned five sequels written by Herbert, and inspired a film adaptation by David Lynch, two mini-series made by the Sci Fi Channel (United States), computer games, and a series of prequels co-written by Brian Herbert, the author's son, and Kevin J. Anderson."

In my personal opinion, it is so amazing because of the awards it won and also because it's really set the example pretty high for other science fiction writers. It's really an amazing series

Battlestar Galactica - current version

I always liked the premise of the original but the way the characters were written (not to mention how their hair was done) was very 70's. The new version has an edge to it that I like. The way the characters react and interact is plausible for the kind of situation they're in. The writing and production values are first rate. I know the style is not to everyone's liking but for me it works.

The X-Files, Star Trek(Original, Generations, Voyager) Quantum Leap. Those I think are by far the best. Star Trek broke ground in more ways then one. Most of the technology that we now use was thought up by people who watch Star Trek, wanting to see if it was even possible to create the things that were on Star Trek.

The X-Files, challenged your way of thinking, not everything is what it seems.

The Twilight Zone, of course, but the New Outer Limits is a
close 2and.
The morals to the stories can still apply to today & alot of both
series have futuristic ideas, that only a genius would be able
to recognize.
One Limit had to do with 5 school kids, they had to pick one of them to be killed, or all 5 would die - it was excellent.

Firefly.

It has a combination of humor, action and most of all a great cast that has a great chemistry together. And the story is extremely interesting, after you watch Firefly watch the movie Serenity which is a conclusion to the show.

Dr. Who is the longest running Sci-Fi show ever, so it must be pretty good. I've only watched last season and it was good. My other favorites are Farscape, Space: Above and Beyond, Stargate (either one), and X-Files.
