i can't seem to get the ignition switch off of my 69 chevy c-10
iv unscrewd the face completly but it still wont come off.

Often times the ignition switch has a pin on the top or bottom that needs to be pushed in so that you can pull the switch out.

Try this---->
Unfold a paperclip and with the ignition key in the switch, turn the key all the way back to Acc'y. Insert the paperclip end into the little hole in the front of the lock cylinder and continue to turn the key farther back toward the Acc'y.
When you feel it turn as far as it will go, remove the paperclip, and grasp the ignition key and lock cylinder and pull it out of the switch. NOW you can remove the retainer and pull the switch from the dash.
To reassemble, reverse the procedure, but you won't need the paperclip.
