Every time I finally start to make good time on a road trip, I run into one of these jackasses. And it takes all of 15 minutes for that truck to pass the other because he's only doing 1mph faster. I travel alot. Almost every other day. I would say, on an average 6 hr trip, this happens at least 8-10 times. Maybe a trucker out there can tell me why that is.

the driver being passed is an a-- hole if he can't back off just a little, and the driver passing is also one if he knows he can't get around in a mannerly order. I drove a big rig off and on for 40 + years, and it comes down to every one being a true professional including the general public, When I travel I still drive like I was in a big rig and I will slow to let a big rig pass.maybe if more 4 wheelers were courteous in their driving it would help some ,but there is always going to be guys & gals driving the big rigs & 4 wheelers that think they own the road.

Well for one thing that jackass as you refer to them is probably hauling the fuel to run your vehicle and even all the parts that built your car and all the clothes your wearing and the cell phone your probably yakking on. The insurance companies make the trucking companies govern the speed on trucks to 65 or less. It also depends on how much weight one truck has on as opposed to another. For the people out there who think truckers are a nusence think about what YOUR wearing and the car your DRIVING and the COLD DRINK your having or COFFEE it all got there by truck. Would you want to go into your local stores and see the store shelves empty??? Think about the last time you went into a business and they said we dont have what your looking for because the truck hasnt gotten here yet why because they are sitting in traffic because alot NOT ALL of four wheelers dont understand the simple concept of bottlenecking traffic lemme give you an example construction on a four lane going down to one lane what do you see going on, cars up the shoulder, cars running the lanes all the way up to beat the trucks, like I said its not all 4 wheelers that do these things but enough do and then blame the truckers. then therefore freight is late that is just one of the many reasons. PLUS how would you like a $3000.00 a week fuel bill HUH HUH!! Be thankful were out here give us a break and we will give you one stop stereo typing us as trash we are nice hard working people that like our jobs. As I am sure you like seeing the store shelves full and the gas tanks filled. Have a good day...God Bless and Be safe

"jackasses" is a bit harsh, but I remember being a non-trucker well enough to understand the irritation. There could be any number of reasons:
1. The passing truck may have a heavy load. He'll need every ounce of speed to get up the hill.
2. The truck being passed may be messing with him by speeding up just enough to keep the other from passing.
3. His truck's speed governer is set at 70mph
etc:

Gutsy. must be blond. Truck drivers have weigh scales to rfile to and places they ought to reveal off at with a view to get your shoes or food to the shops. those adult men can't miss their scales or their turn offs. Scales are frequently in the left hand lane. Or ought to you fairly have the semi lower back up for countless miles so he can get to his scale. Your little Honda is precisely that...."little" so that you recognize who's strolling domicile ought to a run over ensue. you ought to call it a crash, yet to a trucker, it changed into more beneficial of a computer virus splat. no choose for ambulance. more beneficial like a hearse. Or a p.c.. up truck with a scoop shovel. that's all which will be left of you. study your drivers guide back. You were way out of line. those adult men are on the line 24/7/365 that's slightly more beneficial using than you'll ever do. you're literally not a professional driving force. If there is an coincidence, you'd be in the incorrect immediately. those adult men are towing assorted quite some things on each and each truck. Your automobile perhaps weighs one ton. Do you stand a danger? provided that the pro driving force can circumvent you. he's not out to conquer your Honda. he's determining on his spot the position he can ideal slot in devoid of disrupting the move of site visitors. If a cop had considered that, then you definitely can kiss you D.L. good bye, for he ought to have nailed you to the bypass.

wouldnt you pass a car if it was going slower then you ? plus if we dont get out when we have the room you car drivers wont ever let us out that extra mile an hour can make a extra 10 miles a day so an extra 70 miles a week and that can make the difference between being late or being on time we dont do that just because we see a car comeing up behind us and want to mess with you . you arnt the only person that has to be someplace to ya know and it also makes a difference cause we get paid by the miles we drive

As someone stated above truck drivers have time frames and schedules to maintain.
I will say this truck drivers for the most part of one of the most courteous drivers on the road you will run into. They live on the road, drive a whole lot more than most of us and live by certain codes of ethics that most every day drivers dont care about.
Always keep in mind as well when youre driving a big rigg its a pain to have to keep using the clutch to shift speeds, so they will try to stay on a constant speed and will take the left lane if they have to so they dont have to slow down because of the guy in front. They're also not going to speed up either, would defeat the whole purpose of trying not to shift speeds.

have any of you ever tried to accelerate quickly with 100,000 lbs plus on the back of your vehicle? it takes time. plus when the passing truck gets to the front of the other he hits the "bow wave" of air the other truck is pushing to the sides. if you watch NASCAR you will have undoubtedly heard about how the whole aerodynamics of pushing air works. IMO, people shouldn't hate trucks or truckers just because they're slower, they haul everything you need to be able to live the way you do, so stop complaining.

Something you need to know about truck drivers.. they have their own language.. sorta like JEEP ppl think they share.. but with truck drivers.. they think they own the road and they like to F- with ppl that they see come barreling down the road.. it's their way of controlling you.. makes them feel better!

I hate it too!!!!! And it makes it hard for being nice to other truck drivers who don't know about this language because they are new on the roads.. ;D

All joking aside.. I often wonder if they do it to be controlling because their home life sucks so getting out on the highway is the only way they can validate themselves as in charge! Who in their right mind wants to piss off a trucker!!!!

Trucks run on cruise control. This means their speed is limited. Unfortunately each trucks' speed is slightly different and as they all want to run at their top speed there may be only 0.5mph difference in that speed. It does suck, but when truckers are on the road all day they just want to get to where they are going as quick as possible.

generally when one truck starts to pass another, they are going faster than 1mph, but then the landscape flattens out and the truck you were starting to pass picks it speed back up (they have a heavier load than you) and instead of slowing down and letting the truck passing them go on ahead they want to be buttheads. I know, I used to drive and yes they always got on my nerves too.
