You would be surprised....look at Arnold and Maria Shriver. Some of my most intelligent clients are separate parties in their relationships. Some of them even use it to thir advantage to vote in Primary Elections, because in Nevada a Democrat cannot vote for a Republican in a Republican primary, and sometimes there are Republicans I actually like, and vice versa, sooo a couple gets together and selects which Republican and Democratic candidates to vote for since one is Republican and one is Democrat.
Here is where politics and life get messed up. Those parties are just supposed to be political ideologies, not how you run your life. It shows you how deeply engrained political beliefs have become in our own personal lives.
If you love someone, then you love them, regardless of political affiliation. Besides, it makes for some great debates, which is healthy in a relationship.

It can work if the people are reasonable. Just because you believe in certain philosophy doesn't mean you become totally accepting of other philosophies. There are plenty of mixed religion marriages... if two people who disagree on the source of the universe can be in love, I think there is hope for a Demo-Repub union.
Just for the record, the mud slingers are really just victims of the biggest branding scam in the US. Money and marketing have led them to define themselves this way. It's depressingly idiotic.

Of course they can! Not all Republicans and not all Democrats vote strictly on party line, and there are a lot of things to agree on. The question, though, is whether you agree on fundamental view on life. Best of luck!

Totally. I have dated people that were affiliated with different parities and we still loved each other, very much. Love is about respect, so if you can talk about you beliefs and still respect the other person, then it's fine.

I am not sure about dating, but my best friend is far left and I am far right. And we are best friends, so i do know that friendship is stronger than politics.
we have a great time we tell political jokes to each other and laugh about it.

If these two (James Carville and Mary Matalin) can be married to each other, then anything is possible in the world of politics.

of course they can!... certain topics are taboo ( too hot to discuss argue/ about ) in any relationship... just make politics taboo in yours!... as long as you respect each others beliefs and have common ground in other areas in life... it should make no difference!
