if your license says you are required to wear corrective lenses, then you should have notified the dmv about your surgery. They didn't have to arrest you, but they could if they wanted.
The question here is, why did they stop you? they didn't stop you because they saw you were'nt wearing your contacts. There has to be an articulable reason for them to stop you before they could find out that you are not wearing contacts, and then search your car. They are allowed to search the car for "safety" issues once you have been arrested (b.s., of course)
I would need to know certain other things to know if the search was good. What does your lawyer say? If you don't have one, get one.

It looks like they wanted to arrest you, probably on suspicion, because many people get tickets without being arrested. Once they arrest you, they can search your car. You have a right to say no to the search, and that should not cause an arrest.

You need a lawyer. You Need a Lawyer. YOU NEED A LAWYER. Florida is baaaaaaaad. You need a lawyer! Don't think you can't afford it - because you can't NOT afford it. Your freedom is at stake.

I don't think that they can. Unless there is reasonable suspicion or you give them permission, they can only glance into the car. If something is under a seat, in a glove box or a center console, they can't do anything about it. You should really get a lawyer, this is completely illegal!

There is more to this than you are telling. Why did they stop you in then first place? How did they know that you were not wearing contacts? Tell us all of the facts before you ask if what they did was legal

Main Question, what did they originally stop you for? If it was for a traffic infraction, you had to show your license. If your license says contacts, you must have contacts. They usually only give you a warning or ticket if it's a traffic infraction. Must be more to it.
