I have came from singing in Dropped D guitar tuning, and it wasn't a problem, i sounded good in tune when i would sing. But now that we have dropped tuning, when i sing for a chorus or a small part of the song, my singing next to the guitars and bass sound like i'm very off pitch and tune. Is it something I can achieve with practice or something you just gotta kinda HAVE. If I can, whats a good practice to achieve this?
Thanx!

Just pick out the melody on the guitar and try and match pitch. When you feel comfortable with that, then progress to the next part. Keep practicing.

In case you didn't know, it's bad for your guitar to leave it in an altered tuning like that for an extended period of time. When your done, you really need to put it back in standard tuning, otherwise you can really mess up your neck. Just a bit of advise.

Open tunings are for the BIRDS and people who want to sound "really cool". They wind up getting a lot LESS out of the instrument for the most part, unless we're talking John Fahey or Leo Kottke, ok?
You will find much more music and have much more versatility if you stay in standard tuning and learn the KEYS of music, then change them to suit your voice, rather than goofing around with tunings.

Why in gods name would you tune your guitar to an open "C"? Try using D,A,D,F#,A,D. Then you'd be in open D and much closer to what you're used to. Open tunings are great but you're limited in the number of keys you can play in. Open D will give you D, E, F, G and A comfortably. Make sure the band plays in one of those keys.

System of a Down's first three albums are in that tuning so just sing along with them while you play.
