Am just back from Turkey and took Turkish Lira and Sterling BUT would suggest Turkish Lira and Euros. There are plenty of places to exchange your money - but I would change BEFORE you go. Don't forget your English ten pound to pay for your visa as you enter the country! Have a great time - I did!!!

Things have changed. Travellers cheques, etc - it's all a thing of the past now. Just take your ATM card and use it at the machines over there. There will be a charge, so take out larger amounts when safe to do so.

Turkish Yeni, the countrys own currency.
Next you'd be better off taking pound sterling (I'm guessing your from the UK) rather than dollars or euros 'cos you'll only be going through one exchange rate.
You could take travellers cheques as well (sterling ones) because they are more secure than just cash, then there are some cards you can get. Basically they are pre-paid currency cards, I think you can only get Sterling, Euro or US dollar, so you'll still be going through an exchange rate.

Hope that helps!

Travellers check is fine. Take some U.S. dollars and/or Euro. You can change those at any bank to their currency. You can use credit cards also. Do not take a lot of cash. Be careful where you put your money, watch for robbers and a good idea would be to split the money and put them in a few different places. If your purse gets stolen, you'd still have money in your briefcase for example.

Have a nice time!

change some pounds for Turkish Lira, and take some pounds sterling. Do not change pounds to Euros and then to lira as you lose out twice with the exchange rates. You usually get a better rate over there for your home currency than changing it at home for a foreign currency.
enjoy your trip

You will get more for the pound, I took mostly English notes last time I went. What I can't figure out is why we have to pay 10 quid before we can enter their country....
