If u had one day to make a difference in the world, what would you do or say and how would you accomplish?

The day of the London bombings (7th July, 2005) I remember having to walk home, because there were no buses. It's around 6 miles from my work to home, so it took me a couple of hours. But it was an amazing experience. Everybody started.... talking. To each other. Complete strangers, just striking up conversations.

And then there is this long fence with no gap down the middle of the Euston Road, and one woman could not get over. So people helped her to climb over. Nobody knew who she was. They didn't even know each other. They just helped.

Cafes and pubs were giving out cups of tea to people, for free. People just randomly acted as guides, helping those who would normally be on a bus or in a car to get home.

If I could change the world, I would create one day of every year where that happens. I'm not sure how I'd do it. I obviously wouldn't choose anything like the same cause. But if I could experience that sense of carmaderie and togetherness just once every so often, it would remind me the world isn't just about violence, power and money.

That's all any of us really have. We wake up & none of us know if we'll live to see tomorrow. So, every day you're alive....you're making a difference. Sometimes it's for the better & sometimes for the worse. The knack is opening your eyes to this fact & then choosing to live on the positive side of life.

When you do that, you're more likely to help people, even if you don't realize you're doing it. You'll smile openly more often, interact more warmly & less judgmentally, and who knows? A single word, a helping hand, or an understanding glance could literally save another person's life.....or at least brighten what might have been a miserable moment for them.

I would try to make amends with my sister. Something I have tried for a long time to no avail. It would probably be pointless but I would have to try one more time. I would camp out on her front door until she spoke to me. (I basically did this already) We made a date to meet tomorrow but she canceled on me yesterday. I just wish I could help her see that I'm not some crazed woman who hates her very existence. I'm pretty sure she feels the same, but I'm not positive about that. But I also would not let her "forget" she told me she didn't want to be seen with a "fat pregnant woman" a few years ago. She always seems to think that she can say whatever and it will never hurt, but if you say ANYTHING to her like "you'll understand when you have kids of your own." That it is a personal insult and you do not deserve to be given the time of day for a year for such insult.

We all have a day to make a difference in the world everytime we wake up. I try to be loving, respectful to all. I look for opportunities to give. By raising my children to be loving and respectful. By recycling. By voting. By setting an example. By loving life and being grateful for mine. Making a difference can be easy and hard, but it is for me a lifestyle.

I would teach all the children in the world how to believe in themselves and reach their goals. This way when they have dreams to achieve rather then adding to the drugs, crime, and violence in the world.
Always start with the children first...they're the future.
