8,10,12,14,15,17 & 21mm sockets and wrenches.A couple different size ratchet extentions. Adjustable wrench for your axle nuts. A flat head and phillups head screw driver, hammer, reg. pliers, needle nose pliers, channel locks, 5,6,8,10mm allen sockets, spark plug socket,and if you plan on changing your own tires you'll need some tire prybars.
Mostly you'll use the 8,10,and 12mm. You can get a set of 1/4 inch drive sockets from 6mm - 13mm at Sears pretty cheap. In fact you can get all of this there. Oh, and don't forget your ratchets. Have fun.

12mm, 10mm, 8mm sockets, set of allen wrenches, plyers, 13/16" sparkplug socket, 3/8" wrench for the spokes,
believe it or not that should just about do it..

go to sears and buy a basic mechanic set add tools with your experience from there
