With other inventions you can always assume maybe the technology will be available in the future. With time travel, that is hard to swallow because if anyone ever in the infinite future develops a time machine, they would be able to come back and tell us about it. Maybe they're worried about messing up history and life as we know it....but what's the point of trying to invent the time machine if you won't use it?
Some pretty noteworthy scientists (like Einstein) believed pretty firmly that it was theoretically possible though...

In quantum physics, it is said that it is possible to travel forward in time, but not backward (so far.) However, there is research being done that says it MAY be possible to travel backward as well. I have issues concerning this. I'll post an email and the response I got in return so you can see why...

If its happend its had to have changed the path it was before andif so then we would not know it happened because we would have forgoten or been left behind
