in my current companythere is no single sales person whe achieved even 40% of sales target. previous sales people were leaving because of that - simply no chance to earn money promised at the interview.

I worked in sales most of my working life. Many of the larger companies set targets that seem almost impossible to meet. Smaller companies reward you for your effort, or fire you!

I think one of the keys to a successful sales position is to sale something you like! I bounced around selling almost everything you can think of over the 30 years years I sold things. When you find something you like those sales targets just are not high enough!

Also, selling 100,000 dollar items is just as easy as selling 1,000 dollar items, and the rewards are greater!

Where do you get your leads? Has your employer invested in staff who pre-qualify clients? Or do they burden sales staff with both business development and closing on sales? If there's no lead generation or pre-qualification, it's unlikely anyone will do better than 40%. Look for this function in your next employer's organization.

Good luck!

Depends on what you are selling... How long have you been with the job? Is it all phone, or do you get yourself out-there. Sales is tough. Good Luck!

Become the president.

Just ask Bush.

You won't be able to eat pretzels, though.
