Although they can face day to day disadvantages (this is a right hand world after all) lefties have many advantages that righties don't have.
Lefties tend to be creative geniuses(Leonardo da Vinci and Michalangelo to name a few). Although many are more prone to learning disorders such as dyslexia, they also have a good share of writers too(Lewis Carroll, Douglas Adams, Leo Tolstoy, & Kurt Vonnegut, to name a few). Lefties also are talented musically (Kurt Cobain, Bach, David Bowie, Jimmie Hendrix, & Paul McCartney, to name a few).

Lefties are also very good in sports. In baseball, 'southpaws' are a commodity, since they pitch from a different angle (in the batter's perspective) than a rightie. Southpaws also have an advantage in boxing, since they can attack righties from different areas than they are used to (Babe Ruth & Sandy Koufax).

Also, because in some cases left handedness is discouraged, many lefties are ambidexterous....they can use either hand for writing or other activities (but still prefer the left).
