People can yawn as a way of getting (or needing) more oxygen. Do you feel like you are short of breath??

Yawning is caused by a condition called atelectasis. This means the lower lung fields are compressed while we sit for long periods of time. We have a built in mechanism to expand our lungs; it's called yawning and or sighing. Yawning is worse and more frequent after meals, when there is additional intra-abdominal pressure on the lower lung fields from a full stomach. Get up and walk around, take some deep breaths, and stretch. It helps.

I don't think your hrs of sleep are what is causing you to yawn at work. I think the work you are doing isn't causing enough action from you for your body to be fully awake. The possible bordem is causing you to not breathe fully (yawning is caused by a lack of oxygen in the lungs). I would suggest drinking coffee or something to jump start you, maybe a redbull, if you can listen to music. Do something to keep you fully alert at all times. This will cause your body to stay fully awake. Best Wishes

Sometimes we do not get 'proper' sleep, in that we don't get deep sleep. If a person does not get deep sleep then being down for 7-8 hours will not be as refreshing as it should. You may want to try using a bean-filled eye-pillow? The weight helps relax the eyes (and can help reduce morning eye-puffiness!). Also, drinking too much caffiene can rob a person from going into a deep sleep.

start with a little bit of exercise.
You also should see a doctor about sleep apnea. A sleeping "disorder" where oxygen is blocked from getting to your brain. There are several possible causes. One being a soft palette. This would cause a troubled sleep without actually causing you to wake-up and notice.

One possibility: You may have sleep apnea. It's a condition where you wake up briefly hundreds of times a night without knowing it, so you never get a restful sleep. Google sleep apnea and find one of the websites that has a questionnaire. It'll tell you, based on how many questions you answer "yes" whether you may have sleep apnea. If the indication is that you may have it, talk to your doctor.

It could be that you don't sleep well, despite getting the recommended amount. A common cause of this is sleep apnea.
