Have you checked for their web site. I was told MTD was originally Murry Tractor Company, I also seem to remember, that lowes or Home Depot now own them.

MTD "Modern Tool and Die" has bought up several manufacturers.
They now own the Bolens brand, Murray, Troy-bilt are among the brands they now own. MTD used to make Mowers for Montgomery-Ward and other large chain retailers.
MTD also produced equipment with the MTD brand logo.
So given this information you should be able to contact MTD and ask for assistance I would gather all the information I could about the machine even the color.
Then contact them.
