My children at this age got as high as 107. I took them to emergency room. They gave them motrin and sent home. Give the kid a cool bath, keep little clothes and blankets on them and give motrin or tylenol. If acting listless still then take them to Dr. Also check for dehydration.

The normal temp is the same as adults, around 98.6. Over 100 is a fever. Over 102 and above, is extremely high and should consult your doctor ASAP
What type of thermometer are you using? Different ones read differently. Especially on the ear ones, it could be that the thermometer is not fitting in his ear correctly.
Another question to ask yourself is what is his attitude as well. If he feels hot and letargic, then call doctors. If he is acting normal but just feels hot, then just continue to monitor his temp by touch and with the thermometer. And in any case, make him drink lots of fluids. If he won't, like my sons, then I take a medicine dropper and a cup of cold water and give him the fluid that way.

Like everybody else, a normal temp is 98.6. However, young children get higher temps more often and it is not as dangerous for them as it would be for adults. 100 degree temps are not uncommon for a sick 2 year old, but anything above that you should probably take them to the doctor. In any case, give them children's Tylenol or advil every four hours or so and monitor them to make sure it doesn't go up further.

98.5 is normal. Actually even a little low. Toddlers sometimes run around 99 and it's considered normal. Has he been out in the sun? If he seems like he doesn't feel well, you can give him some childrens tylenol and see if it helps. Otherwise keep taking his temp to see if it spikes. I know it's scary, but you can believe the thermometer. Or if you think it isn't working right, try a different one.

Normal is different for every person/child. Normal for most children is approx. 98 degrees - however, if he has just recovered from a flu, it could be as low as 96 or if he has a mild flu, it could be 99 or 100. Bottom line, be sure your thermometor is correct. we were in the hospital with my 6 month old once when the nurse had taken the temp and it was 99 - 1/2 hour later, he was burning up and it was 106.4 - never saw one that high

89.6 is normal for an adult and 101. is not to bad for a 2 year old where are you taking the temp. if its under the arm you need to add a degree. Don't let the temp go above 102. use cool wash cloths to bing the temp down along with childrens tylonel if that don't work a cool bath not a cold one will also help. Start the bath warm then let the cool water run in the bath so you don't shock the child. Let the water get cool this will help.

98.5 isn't much to worry about. give him some medicine. put him in a cool bath. wait 30mins after the cool bath and check his temp. again. if it gets up to 101, that's when you need to take him to the ER. My daughter is about 16 months and she was like that not to long ago. her temp was actually like 104 and she was trowing up. we rushed her down there they gave her medicine and checked her out. they said if we had any problems the next day to call the dr. she was running a temp of 99.7 and I called and they said that it's normal for kids to have a slight temp, especially if there cutting teeth. they said not to worry inless it gets up to 101, then you should take them. but for now, give him a cool bath with some medicine. that's the fastest way to knock a temp. Be sure to give him lots of fluids to keep him hydrated. hope this helps.

99-100 would be considered a low grade fever, tylenol will relieve it, the normal body temperature is 98.6F. a fever is usally a sign of an infection. is your baby pulling her ears, coughing, wheezing? 100-104 is a danger zone you want to keep your baby out of, give him/her lots of fluids to prevent dehydration, diarrhea, and all the other yucky flu stuff. a summer cold is always one of the worst and takes longer to recover from. antibiotics should only be used if their immune system isn't kicking it out within 7 days. if the fever lasts more than 2 days, i'd be safe and get him/her to the family doctor.

If he's b;urning up but only reading 98.5, then either you're reading the thermometer wrong or it is broken. A normal temp is 98.6, just like an adult, but I think it is usually OK if they are a little bit higher.

Give him a little tylenol to help bring his fever down. Also you should put him an a luke-warm bath. Be sure to get his head wet, or it wont help lower his fever. If you are taking his temp. externally, you need to add 1 degree. so it would be 99.5. To get the best reading, you have to take his temperature internally. (Anally)
