A perfect universe is symmetrical with more or less equal amounts of everything, matter and antimatter. A symmetrical universe is sterile, with a whole lot of nothing. OUR universe is Asymmetrical -- there was slightly more matter than antimatter. This allowed things to actually form and stay formed. We owe everything to our universe being imperfect and uneven/unequal.

Why is there something instead of nothing?
In, uh, the universal sense... hmmm...
If it isn't because God wanted it that way, then it's of no concern to me.
This question, even if it could be answered, can hardly have any consequence at all.

I think your question is more along the lines of "why does the universe exist at all?" which boils down to "where did the 'Big Bang' come from?"
If we take God out of the equation, I don't think there's a satisfactory explanation. It seems to have... just happened otherwise.

The question, "why does anything exist?" includes the question, "why does God exist?" because God it one of the "somethings" that can exist. It is a very old philosophical question that was considered by the ancient Greeks and probably others before that, for which I have never heard a satisfactory answer.

There are two different things, the one we see in sky(universe) and the GOD we think. What is seen in the Sky(in universe) with our eye is physical matter composed of complex chemical composition. And there are many things in the universe(s) which we do not see because they are composed of the matter which we can not see through the eye given to us. GOD has not created the things which we see and not seen by us. It is the scientific circumstantial evidence responsible to create this universe. The most important nature of GOD is to"SEE & KNOW IT".

The mention of the nothing is also mentioned in chinese culture and also in Sanskrit Writings.
The chinese called it the" Chi "and said that nothiing in material universe could exist without it.
Greek culture and Classical scientistscalled it the" Aether"
The Pseudo scientistS about the Aether call it "tHE SUBSTANCE OF SPACE " OR THE DARK MATTER OF THE UNIVERSE.
Relativists call it the space -time fabric
Non- expert in the field call it vaccuum. NOt realizing that vaccuum means devoid of air only.
THOSE WHO LOOK AT REALITY ONLY, SAY THAT ITS VERY TESTABLE.AND REAL.
Those who misinterpreted experiment say that ift does not exist ,Hence space is empty and void of any matter substance.
Those who are open minded in response would say what are they talking about?
