If you use the coin as legal tender (as money) then it's worth what it says. If you sell it to a collector, you're likely to get more than face value for unusual coins. There were loads of special ones made before the 2pound coin was official in circulation and I have some 5pound coins too.

I think early £2 coins were faulty and so the silver middle part could be removed...this problem was rectified and therefore made those coins rare and more valuable...hope this helps...
