A reporter for the NY times recently asked Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans why the clean up efforts were taking so long. To this he replied Well you guys in New York can't even fix a whole in the ground and it's been five years. So lets be fair.

Mr. Nagin is clearly making reference to 9/11. I think this was an insinsitive remark made in attempts to cover his own inadequacies. What about you.

It's just another example of how detatched far left liberals are from their patriotism of this country. How can any American describe ground zero as just a "hole in the ground".
I'll tell you how..
when it's someone who cant defend himself; he projects blame at others.
when it's someone who really didnt care what happened to America on 9/11.
when it's someone who cheers for the enemies of America...

WHEN IT'S SOMEONE LIKE NAGIN
WHEN IT'S SOMEONE LIKE THESE MORONS..

I don't think anyone expected Nagin to say anything intelligent, his latest remark just goes to show how stupid he really is. Why are most cities around New Orleans cleaned up and mostly repaired but New Orleans is not?

I respect him for his straightforwardness. Not many politicians can speak this bluntly. Is his openness a sign of a lack of intelligence? no, i think it shows his courage and honesty, albeit some lack of restraint.

He could work on improving his interviewing skills..knowing how to say things that won't offend people, because comments such as this are very insulting. Especially for those who worked hard cleaning and rebuilding ground zero (and in many cases, dying from the cancer-causing environment).

Mr Nagin speaks his mind. Rare for a politician. And as crude as it comes across I do find it a bit refreshing. And as nasty as it does sound, he does have a point.

He shoots off at the mouth sometimes, and says what he thinks. Politicians take a beating when they do this, that's one reason why so few are candid and so many lie.

It was obviously a personal attack and clearly unprofessional. I've been wondering how he won the election after Katrina hit considering all the negative publicity he had.
