Heard on the news this morning that Mayor White has cut off the evacuees (well at least not paying their utility bills anymore).
I never thought I would see the day that these leeches had to start taking care of themselves!

awsome. im sick of them begging in the streets and asking for handouts. the most worthless people in the world came from NO.
i had one in the woodlands pull up to my store in a escalde with big chrome wheels and all sorts of bling on their bodies ask me what i got for free becasue they be from nu orlans

Well, I am a former Houstonian and still have family there, so I'm glad that at least SOMETHING is being done. I keep hearing how the murder rate and other violent crime rate have way up since the Katrina evacuees settled in Houston...and they get first priority for job openings...it's just not right.

The thing is that this is a good and bad idea. I understand that the general public believes that these people are lazy and haven't gotten jobs to support themselves. To some extent I believe in that. With that said, imagine you lived in a poor neighborhood and suddenly you're left with no house and no money. You are transported to a different state where you don't know anyone. It takes time to heal. I know that many people refuse to hire anyone from New Orleans because of the bad rep--maybe thats why some can't find a job. However, they do need to learn to stand on their own two feet--I mean, its been a year!!

Wait a second (I'm not complaining about the question), but I'm thoroughly amused at the fact that some woman can say:
Murder, crime, blah, blah, blah... "and they get priority in job openings".
If they get priority for job openings, wouldn't that mean they're working and not "leeching" off the system?

That's good news, but I am not as excited as you are..
I am not happy with the fact that Police officers will not be able to chase after criminals again.. esp. with the increasing crime rate.
I am sad that Andrea Yates was not executed for drowning her 5 children..
