I agree with most of the answers about upper management for the Lions being the base problem of that franchise. I've seen that very same problem here in Seattle.
No, Lineart wouldn't have been their answer to changing their losing ways. Actually Young would've been a better fit since he can scramble from the pocket since the Lions offensive line is offensive (terrible).
Kitna will be only as successful as his line gives him time to dump off passes before he gets sacked.
I don't see the Lions doing any better than in years past with 4 wins this year.

Jon Kitna is a good QB, but his best has already happen and gone, he's getting old and slowing down, I should know because I've watched him a lot since I'm a Bengals fan. Linehart wouldn't do them any good this year since hes got a lot to learn this year about the NFL.

Josh McCown could be a great QB he just hasn't done it and who knows if he ever will become what he should have. Lions still have major holes in O-line. The WR have the ability to be good, but like Josh McCown hasn't got the job done.

A new coaching staff helps them, but will take a while before they get use to the new system and that may take all year, just depends on the players. There new cover-2 defense could be effective long as players learn it. With Shaun Rogers and Shaun Cody they should be able to stop the run.

I'm not so sure if the defense can get the job done against the pass though. Also their schedule won't be easy, you have 8 games against teams that have a real chance to be in the playoffs. I say they will improve from last year, but at best will get 7 wins.

The lions will be around a .500 team now. If they took Leinart they would be a poor team for awhile. They have two nice running backs in Jones and Calhoun. The Lions did the right thing drafting Sims who will be a huge boost on def. They have a not too bad WR maybe one of the best if Mike Williams and Charlie Rogers actually tries. They also have Roy Williams who will be a top WR now in the NFL. Look for them to be 7-9, 8-8 or 9-7. Right around that area

The Lions will be better. The new coach is instilling the sense of pride and toughness that the Lions desperately needed. Kitna is not a superstar but he is the perfect steady veteran to pull that team together and groom a new young quarterback.
I don't think that Leinart would have been the right fit for the Lions.
They need to improve their defense and O-line around the offensive weapons they have and find a young QB to groom. Kevin Jones will have a very good year.
For reference, I am a Skins fan.

First of all, I am a Lions fan.
No I don't think they will do good, they have no offensive line at all. They couldn't run the ball if they 7 guys on defense, did you see the CLeveland Game. Jon Kitna may get sacked 70 times this year.
I think they should have chose Lineart instaed of an injury plagued LB.

I think there are some serious problems with that organization, starting at or near the top. They may be a bit better this year, but not much, and I don't think adding Leinart would have improved them much more.

I doubt it. They don't need Matt Leinart either. The Lions weren't even good when they had Barry Sanders.

Nah they don't need Leinart, Jon Kitna is a solid veteran and is just what they need at QB. They probably won't be a playoff team this year, but they will be much improved. They just might be the most complete team in that division.

They will improve once they pick up a new GM. Until then do not look for anything except there for a 5-11 at best.

Linehart wouldn't do them any good this year anyway.
Look for the Lions to be improved, 3rd place this year.
