you never really "know". . .its all aobut trial and error. . . .if something doesn't work try something else. . don't get disillusioned. . even if you failed 100 times, there are still infinity-100 times left!!!!! The average adult changes careers 8 times! 8!!! THATS INSANE!
You are never meant for nothing!

I wandered all over the place. I studied to be a priest, I became a teacher, Social work, therapist, insurance salesmen. I have sold fire alarms and caskets. There are some other crazy things in there. I was DXed with Bipolar disorder about 14 years ago. Then about 3 years ago the Doctor told me to call it quits as far as working. I burned through about 5 jobs in one year. He said I wouldn't get better if I didn't quit working. Things are still not great, but I found something that I would have never thought I would be good at and that is painting. I also do volunteer work when I can and find that rewarding. Just keep plugging away until you find what fulfills you. Don't worry about money. You will need some of it for your old years but if you're doing what you have fun at doing the money will come.

I think that sometimes people just "fall" into a situation and keep going just because they don't try anything new. If you try new things, you are bound to fail at some. I'm not even 30 yet and I can't even imagine how many times I've failed at a whole bunch of things I tried to do. So, just keep going until you find the thing that gives you the most satisfaction, whatever that thing may be.

While you are busy trying to be meant to do something... there is a darn good chance you do what it is you are meant to do...
Think of it this way...
Let's say:
On the 3rd of july 2007 you are meant to pass a man in the street and smile at him....
You know nothing of the man but just smiled out of friendliness or perhaps even out of compassion... you never see the man again...
This man is actually in desperate situation has grown a belief there is no humanity left on erth and is on his way to jump off a bridge.... then this person passes him in the street and smiles at him... and his icy heart is melted by the very humanity he had thought never existed again.... he turns around and goes home to work out his problems with a renewed sense of hope... all because of one smile..
You of course would never know what you did on that day... you were just being you... Of course what you did was a great thing... A marvellous thing... and you will never know what it meant to that man and his family and friends and community...
Do you understand? You may never know the great thing that you do... But that does not make it any less great!
And maybe you will sit beside a lady on a train on the 21st September 2020 and she will need a kind word of compassion ...
And maybe on the 2nd January 2011 you will see a small child crying and offer some loving assistance.... That child always remembers your kindness and grows up to be a great heart surgeon...
You may never know your greatness.... but it is there....
You are meant for something.. Perhaps lots of somethings..

Find something you enjoy doing. Then scheme a way to make money off of it.
People keep talking about careers, but I'm under the impression you are not, else it would be under the 'career' section.
You don't know what you are supposed to. You're supposed to find it. And I'm sure you will. Just keep an open mind, and make those opportunities, don't just wander through them. Seize the moment. Just live. Be.
Best of luck.

Some people never know. When I start thinking this way I try to be of service to someone or the community so at least I'm functioning. Don't let these thoughts be all consuming. I'd try to read some self-help or inspirational books. I've found Dr. Wayne Dyer's books to be very helpful.
Good luck!

try helping the elderly....they appreciate it more and you may meet some really interesting people who can share some gems of wisdom with you.
if you are young, in your 20's know that it does get easier as you get older and more confident. life is a struggle for most of us, but look for the little bright spots in each and every day. but helping others and going around with a smile is a good place to start.
Good Luck, and believe it or not, if your heart is in the right place and you are really trying eventually you will succeed.
Never Give Up!
Best Wishes:)

Most people feel lost careerwise. I think it's a mistake to be looking for that one perfect fit of a job. We're probably all capable of filling many roles. The attitude that I have taken is that I just want to do something that contributes to society that I also enjoy.

You are not meant to do any thing, You are here just to be here, have you ever thought of it that way. Think about it, when will we ever do anything in life that makes a world of difference, a WHOLE WORLD of difference, like the cure for cancer, aids, ms,,,ect, when we solve one of those then we'll know what we are meant to do in life.
