I've always felt that football stadiums should be nice and open. No domes, no retractable roofs, just the real deal with the weather and everything. Having snow, heavy rain, wind, etc. is what football is all about.

In northern climates football stadiums should have a dome or a retractable dome. The weather should not be a factor no team should have an advantage. Financially a stadium with a dome has multiple uses year round. If taxpayers money is used for construction the stadium should be domed for use year round.

I totally agree with you. I despise domes. I went to see a Bears game in Indy and it sucked. The Indy fans are clueless about football, so the dome doesn't bother them.
I doubt there will be changes though, too many dollars are already invested. Though it would be nice if Minnesota went back to an outdoor stadium, as they are contemplating a new park.
When I was a kid, Minnesota played outdoors and were tough as nails. They had a big home field advantage as well. I remember seeing Chuck Foreman romping throught the snowflakes, that was football. Than God my Bears still play outdoors!

Open air. Football in domed stadiums feels artificial.

I think the reason why they put domes on the stadiums, is to appease the spectators. They are the ones that pay for the ticket and that is what makes the organization money. Most people don't want to be sitting in crappy weather watching the game. Though I don't mind, nothing better than watching those Packer's in December.

I think there should be no domes. When you take the elements out of the game you take the toughness out of the game. Wouldn't you love to see the vikings playing outdoors in minnesota in december like you used to with the purple people eaters. What games have been more exciting over the last few years than a playoff game in Denver, New England, or Green bay.

Yes-the best games are played in the elements. One of the best games ever was the ICE BOWL between Dallas & GB. Domes should be retractable at the very least. I can see closing a dome if there is a blizzard. Short of that-play in the elements!

There should all have "domes" like my Rams. Don't like the inclement weather games. Some guys think their tough if you play in the cold or snow. I know it ruins the players talent for the game.
I go to a St. Louis Rams game every year. I'm for domes.
Stay well.

All my years of playing football, the best conditions were the worst conditions! The more it rained or snowed, the happier we were.
However, now that I am just a spectator, sitting and watching in the miserable rain or cold, is no fun at all.
Domes are great for the spectators, not the players.

They should definitely be all outdoors. That way they wont start rumors like last year that Indy was pumping in extra crowd noise over the speakers to make it louder. Im a Steeler fan and I dont believe that they did that for one second, but because it was so loud the rumors came about.
