I was a child in 80s, but I remember how horrible people (maybe me too :P) dressed. When I look at old photos I can't believe how people wore those shirts with shoulder paddings. OMG, they look horrible. And the other horrible thing is those very high-cut pants. They look like they're almost gonna wrap your throat. Also, those hair clips...weird hair styles...

It's something about the 80s I think, because I still find 70s stuff cool, but 80s horrible.

What are your horrible things from 80s?

None.
The 80's was a definitive decade. The 90's have had nothing definitive at all. No distinct style of anything. And the decade we are in now is even worse. There is no individual style of anything. The music has become angry the people have become angry and the youth are dissolving into spineless amoebas with no identity. Listen to 80's music, it is all positive. Watch an 80's music video, again positive. Albeit by comparison badly made but that was the best they could do with the what they had. Besides ecstasy came out in the 80's. I'd like to see the next decade that tops that.

Those frizzy hairstyles were bit off though. Ok the mullets were off to. And mabe the cutoff-sleeve pink shirts. Ok and mabe the sweatbands and headbands to. But the rest was cool. Mabe. A bit.

I remember I would spend every dime I made at Foxmoor and Merry Go Round. Remember those places? I looked like a fashion victim from Club MTV. The shoulder pads, the ankle high suede boots, the short ruffle skirts, rows of Swatches, etc. I even had a pair of deep purple MC Hammer pants. A lot of sheer, see through sleeves and short crop jackets also. And the hair defied gravity.

And now my 14 year old daughter is buying clothes that are starting to look more and more like stuff I used to wear. If only I still had some of those clothes I could save a lot of money.

A pair of denim Nike tennis shorts with a built in fuscia spandex support FOR MEN. The spandex extended about 3 inches below the denim. Andre Agassi used to wear these when he still sported that ridiculous mane. (Obviously, so did I). Yikes.

Slouch socks slouched over my pant legs, Ugh! But the scariest thing is that I am seeing the 80s styles coming back in my fashion magazines.

Styles keep coming and going. I actually find wearing slippers to straight cut Jeans reaching down to the ankle quite cool. But puffing one's shoulders still is a "don't".
Cheers!

- Day Glo colors

- "Frankie Say ..." t-shirts

- Leg warmers

- Leggings (stretch pants that looked more like tights)

- Pocketbooks with retro diner waitress and similar images on them

- Sweatdresses (pretty much sweatshirts that went down to the girls' mid-thighs, worn with a belt)

jelly bracelets and shoes....

remember how the shoes left the imprints of the design on your feet for hours after you took them off!

my mom recently found a bag of jelly bracelets that were mine and we had a good laugh about those. a few of them even had "jelly words" on them like "awesome" or "cool"
