I heard a light calypso version of 'Somewhere over the rainbow' at the end of a film. Its very simple with just a yukelele (?) and soft male voices, it was beautiful. PLease can someone tell me who it is?

Thanks XXX

The song is by deceased Hawaiian vocalist Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole. I love this version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

I'm sure the movie is 50 first dates it's the end theme tune. Good excuse to watch the film again and see in the credits at the end it will tell you there.

I have just had a nosey on the net and it is the last song on 50 first dates and also on meet joe black. Unforunatley it doesn't seem to be on the cd soundtracks for some reason but it is by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and you can buy his cd at amazon.

That's gonna drive me mad, I watched the film as well but can't remember what it was.

I think Scott Mills of of Radio 1 has tried to get it released and managed... i think it was his pet sound a couple of weeks ago.

I know... I wont rest now...

Its a cross of over the rainbow and a wonderful world.

Is it Israel Kamakawiwo?? off Meet Joe Black / 50 first dates???

Haven't seen either film so it may be something else.
