~amazon.com, sometimes they have the cheaper international edition but don't forget to check the edition(1st,2nd etc and ISBN) and they have new and used and free shipping coupon and 30% with amazon visa
~ Ebay, but the shipping quite expensive and mostly no return policy
~ Book store around campus, sometimes they sell used book
~ Student! they sell a lot cheaper

Don't go to your college/uni's bookstores, the price often more expensive for used book.

Some college book stores buy back books; check out the book stsores on or near campus for cheap deals. You can find used ones at a good price. Also check out Half Price Books, or other used book stores.

From one college student to another...I NEVER buy books from my college bookstore. Once registered for classes I get a complete list of books I'll need for classes, INCLUDING the ISBN number, then I search between Amazon.Com or Ebay.

Case in point. By doing it this way, I saved $210 on books for Fall '05 semester, $128 in Spring '06 semester and $179 for this semester. (One book I bought this semester cost $87 in my bookstore, but I bought a used one on eBay for $9...AND when I am done with it, the bookstore will buy it back for $26...THAT is the way to do it!)
ALWAYS search Amazon or eBay first. Don't be fooled by all the textbook websites out there that claim lowest prices, they are rip-off sites. They charge you say $50 for a book that would have cost you $70...and then charge you $20 in shipping and handling.

Sometimes the bookstore makes it unavoidable though. When they sell several odd books as a bundle for one class, then you kind of have to buy it.

First you have to get a list of the books...then go on line to amazon.com and other places to hunt down the best price for used books. My sister and I are pretty good at this. We usually ended up paying about only a fourth of the cost of new books, and that included shipping. Of course every now and then the professor would insist on the very latest edition, sometimes for really good reasons. Afterwards, sell them on the same sites you bought them from, and for the same price if possible. We often kept the books unless we really hated the class.

The Amazon.com market place is a great place to look. There, you can look up your required books and people who have already taken the class may be selling their used books. A book I got new for $81 at the bookstore I sold (having barely opened it) for $45. You can get some really great deals!

Either check out the university book for for used books, or sometimes even bookstores in the vicinity have used college books that are remotely inexpensive.

You might want to check one of those used book stores you see around town, near the campus of that town. They usually have what you want from the previous year's students.

The moon? lol j/k I have no idea, but if I were trying, I would ask people on campus who are upper classmen if they have any books that they would be willing to sell to me. Other than that, check out ebay, half.ebay, amazon and your school bookstore.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as cheap textbooks! However, if you go to amazon.com or half.com (run by ebay) you can usually find halfway decent prices. Good luck in your search!
