Dear Ainver,

I understand that you are otherwise healthy and is unable to get sound sleep at night.

I also assume that you have no business/financial/family / personal/ career (similar) worries that you take to bed.

Human body is capable of releasing necessary chemicals to induce sleep if you give the right raw materials.

1. You must have a moderate amount of physical activity/exercise so that the body gets a sound sleep.

2. Do not sleep during day time (not even napping or siesta) because such activity will reduce night-time sleep.

3. Avoid heavy dinners. Difficult to digest, high calorie/protein dinners may keep you awake.

4. A warm protein-drink (milk based or soya-based) just before bed (after a light dinner) helps to induce sleep faster.

5. Diversional tactics like 'counting sheep', light reading (no ghost-stories or thrillers please!) or listening to slow music may help.

6. Self-suggestions also can help you. Ascertain and tell yourself (may be at prayer time, if you are the believer type) that come rain or sunshine, you are going to sleep today at so-and-so time!

Good luck, Sweet Dreams

Warm Regards

1.Hard work and exercise.
2.Try leaving your worries at the curb at night. You can always pick them up again in the morning.
3.Chamomile tea.
4.Read a book in bed , not a scary one.
5.Stop watching late news on TV. They are all about death and destruction.
6.Envision the most happiest time and place in your life and close your eyes and go there.
7. Mentally begin to clean the stressful things out of your life. Cleaning your mind opens space for answers and good things to happen.
8. Yoga, deep breathing and relaxation techniques.
9. Lock your bedroom door so you feel safe.
10. Sleep by yourself, not with a partner.
11. Perfume your pillows with an aroma to your liking.
12. Do not fall asleep on the couch or anywhere except your bed.
These are just some ideas, but you get the picture... Good luck

Meditation is the best aid if you believe. Get a real master for it.
Powerful / small magnet is second best aid.
Improving habits is most important. You should go to bed at 11:00 pm or even before. Have a meal and go to bed without drinking water, instead add some salads.

I suffered with serious insomnia for years. I was miserable and really didn't know which way to turn. I refused to take any drugs, and one day a friend approached me with a functional fruit juice. Thought anything was worth a try. Within 2 days I was sleeping through the night and now sleep each and every night. I will never be without my juice again as it has helped me with other health issues as well.

I have suffered from insomnia most of my life. Try a warm bath (102-104 degrees) a cup of chamolie tea and take 3 mg of melatonin....lay back in the tub for 10 mins, take the melatonin and wait 10-15 mins and get out of tub...grab a boring book and lay in bed and read...or turn on some boring tv channel like home shopping network ( that one works for me) and relax...don't have anything with caffeine in it 8 hours or more before bed....goto bed at 10 stop all soda's, coffee's and cafinated teas by 2. I hope this helps and if you want more ideas pizi_ista1976@yahoo.com...peace

A Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich and a glass or milk -- or a cold turkey sandwich -- also try a noise maker (a fountain, nature sounds, white noise) when trying to fall asleep.

I like Tylenol PM -- I haven't found any side effects and it's not addicting (at least in my experience). Sometimes I cut the dosage down to just 1 pill instead of two.

Do some weight lifting or go for a long walk to burn that energy off before hitting the sack. Maybe read a book to lull yourself to sleep. Experiment
