If they offered you a job, subject to your passing a background check, and you didn't pass the background check, that seems pretty fair to me. Sorry though, good luck !!!!

Thats total bull. It just goes to show you how companies are nowadays. They come up with anything not to hire you. After all, employees are an expense.

Something similar happend with my wife, but a little different. They actually hired her, then they let her go after a week saying she didn't have enough experience. She was completely honest about being fresh out of school and her experience level. All this after she left a another decent job! She couldn't get that other job back because they had already hired someone else. Total bummer. Job hunting sucks. Just remember that, and you'll be okay. Never get excited about job hunting.

Maybe you should just start your own business. That way you can do the same thing to those jerks who didn't give you a chance.

Better luck next time.

Well, I will tell you something my father always tells me... and maybe this will help you. Sometimes doors have to close for better doors to open. This statement works in many aspects of someone's life, for example, you break up with a loved one, or you crash your car... in your case, things happen for a reason. You passed up other opportuninities to stick with the prospect of another job... MAYBE the jobs you passed up weren't for you, and maybe you would have been miserable in them had you taken them... You never know what is around the corner, it could be something wonderful...

Is it fair or not? Well, it is life. It happens, and there is nothing that can change the recent events. So now, use your anger for something else, channel it into positive energy to get a job you will love. I have faith you can do it... so you try the same.

Good luck to you and I hope this helps you!

first of all, whatever you did 8 yrs ago, well you did it and should no that this could happen (its not the co's fault that you have this record).

Secondly dude, why did you pass up job opportunities, what if one of them paid you double the salary of the first one, always go to job interview, hell I am currently employed with one co., start a new job with another co. on Sept 11 and am still checking the job boards on a daily basis.

third, if you get this many interview invites as you say you do, you should not have a problem getting a job man

Yes, it's fair. Importantly, you did not disclose to us the blemish on your background check. Going forward, disclose these things up front. Today, most all of your personal history is just a click away from an interested party via the internet. The skeletons in your closet are now visible for all to see.

I cannot really say if it's fair or not....they may have said you hd the job but you really didnt until they did the back round check...it would have to be something really small like a parking ticket...you must have done something worse

It is called life. AND it happens.

It is easy for me to be on the outside and tell you this, BUT wasting your energy crying over spilled milk will do nothing.

GO BACK to the other job prospecrts and examine them. The job you had is gone. Dead. Buried. History. Move on.

these things happen all the time and i understand it is upsetting to you, let it go and move on to better things, try to contact the other offers and see if they are still open,[ do not bring up the problem you had with other company, that is not good business to tell your problems with other employer's. try to hook up with temp agencies for instant jobs until you get a permanent job

That happened to me too -- not it is not fair. I worked at a place like 10 years ago, and quit - they hired me for a totally different position 10 years later, then called after I gave my notice at my job, and said that they couldn't hire me because I had quit there 10 years before!! WTF!!!

I think that you should have gone to all these other interviews if they were offered just to see what else was out there. Never put all your eggs in one basket.
