Most of the time I can just appreciate how nice things are by myself. I don't need anyone with me to admire it too, I just know that I do and that's all that matters.

It really depends up on my mood at the time. If I have had a hard day with the children then I am grateful for the solitude and quiet.
If I am feeling like I haven't seen my husband in a while because of his long hours at work, then I wish he were with me.
No matter, I always enjoy the scenery

I would have to say that it depends. When you're alone, you can really focus on what you're doing, but sometimes, you tend not to remember as much. On the converse side, when you're with someone, you don't notice as many details as you might if you had been alone, but you tend to share a memory or two that will last longer.
I know it's not the same thing, but I went to England all by myself last April and I couldn't have been happier to be alone. I was able to do everything I had ever wanted to do, and with someone else, my precious time there would have been compromised.

I focus on the scenery. Sometimes thoughts will intrude and thoughts about others too.
It's not that I prefer to share it with them at the time but more a feeling of wanting to share it period! That's when my mind will come up with others I'd like to share that experience with.

At my age now, focus on the scenery. Back in my younger days, wishing I had a man w/ me.

Well... I can really enjoy that stuff by myself, but I still think, "Oh my son would love this" or "I wish my husband were here"... it's not that I can't enjoy things like that on my own, but I like being able to share that kind of thing with the people I love.

Humans are not meant to be along, except for short time, that time is given to them for reflection, for uncluttering their mind, for prioritizing their ideas and tasks. Otherwise, man is meant to be a social animal.
I believe a walk in the woods can be both---at different times, you can use it as blessed solitude, and also use it to share the nature's easel with someone you love. It does not have to either or.

My camera would focus on the scenery, and I'd share the photos.

I'm almost never alone. But, yes can I see your point. I love nature and I love walking in the quiet and taking in God's creation. And yes, when I'm alone doing this, I think about having someone I love [my family] with me. Did that make sense?

Any woman asking this question should read "Gift from the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh.
